Barry Stuppler receives ANA Exemplary Service Award

The American Numismatic Association presented its 2011 Exemplary Service Award to ANA life member Barry Stuppler of Woodland Hills, Calif., recognizing the longtime dealer for services on behalf of the association that are “above and beyond” the call.

Stuppler was presented the award during the World’s Fair of Money in Rosemont, Ill.

A professional coin dealer for 50 years, Stuppler joined the ANA in 1968 and has served as its president (2007 to 2009), vice president (2005 to 2007) and board member (2001 to 2005). He has taught mini-seminars regularly at the ANA Summer Seminar since 2007 and received the association’s Century Club Award for recruiting new members in 2004.

He owns Barry Stuppler and Co. Inc. and Mint State Gold, the latter a major wholesaler of precious metals and rare coins. Stuppler also has been instrumental in building many multimillion-dollar collections and Registry Sets, according to the ANA.

A well-known advocate for collectors and investors, Stuppler is chairman of the Gold and Silver Political Action Committee, which was established in 2010. He is president of the California Coin and Bullion Merchants Association, and a board member of the Professional Numismatists Guild and the Industry Council for Tangible Assets, the latter of which he co-founded. ¦
