Arkansas club offers Civil War anniversary wood

The Central Arkansas Coin Club has released its 2011 colorful wooden nickel with the obverse featuring the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial image.

The image was given to CACC by the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission and taken from the commission’s “passport” book. The passport book can be used to gather stampings from sites all over Arkansas, and when submitted to the commission complete may be traded for a free medal or patch. The state sesquicentennial website carries information about the sesquicentennial celebration, events and the passport.

The reverse of the wood has club information, including the name of the club’s president, Jim DeLamar and contact information, and the inscription GOOD FOR A CUP OF COFFEE OR SODA.

Both sides of the wood are printed in multiple colors.

The 2011 wooden nickel is available for $1 each and three for $2. Customers ordering three are eligible for a free wooden nickel of the club’s choice while supplies last. A self-addressed, stamped envelope is required.
