I am a Morgan dollar collector (among other U.S. coins as well) for the past 10 years. I recently bought an 1881-CC dollar graded MS-60, and upon examining the coin and comparing some values, I wonder about the huge variances in value for many of these Morgan dollars.

I have listed as an example the below coins, with mintages under 1 million. [Values are taken from January 2015 Coin World.]

1893-S 100,000 $13,000

1894 110,972 3,300

1881-CC 296,000 525

1893-O 300,000 3,250

1899 330,846 250

1899-CC 350,000 25,000

1893 378,972 775
