NewGold Issuer Ltd. has delisted 500,000 NewGold platinum debentures following the redemption of 4,907.528 fine troy ounce of platinum bullion. The delisting leaves 79.4 million NewGold platinum debentures in issue, comprising approximately 779,315.495 fine troy ounces of platinum.
Demand for palladium, primarily for use in autocatalyst applications, pushed the spot price of the precious metal to a 17-year high Dec. 22. The closing spot price of the metal hit $1,042.50 per troy ounce, its highest since Jan. 26, 2001, when the metal closed at $1,090 on the London metals market.
