The United States Mint reports at its Web site that the 2001 American Buffalo Coinage and Currency set, limited to an issue of 50,000 sets, has been sold out.

The sets, containing an Uncirculated 2001-D Buffalo silver dollar and a uniface replica by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing of the face of the Series 1899 $5 silver certificate, officially went on sale by telephone, fax and mail on June 7. Internet sales began at noon June 11, with 30,000 of the sets already sold before Internet sales began. The remaining 40 percent sold within hours.
