About Coin World

When collectors want to know about coins, for more than 50 years they have turned to Coin World the best and most timely, independent source of information about all aspects of collecting coins, paper money or any objects once used as money.

Coin World is published weekly, and is the most widely read and circulated publication for coin hobbyists in the world. In its first or second issue of each month Coin World offers an expanded Special Edition, which provides sections on Paper Money, World Coins and Coin Values. Through its timely news coverage, historical features and updates highlighting new research, Coin World provides collectors with the knowledge and insight they need to understand, appreciate and enjoy their collecting pursuits.

Editorial Integrity

From its very first issue (April 21, 1960), Coin World has used its editorial voice to advocate for coin collectors and provide leadership in ensuring the hobby is an inviting and stimulating environment. Coin World's former editor, Beth Deisher, was the lead witness at the July 12, 1995, congressional hearing that catapulted the drive for circulating commemoratives to the top of the U.S. Congress' legislative agenda, resulting in approval of the legislation authorizing the 50 State quarters program. Coin World's opinion pages are considered by many to be the "heartbeat" of the hobby. Collectors and policymakers alike say that they turn first to Coin World's Letters to the Editor, Guest Commentary and Editorial Page to learn what is truly on the minds and in the hearts of the nation's collectors.

Accurate Retail Coin and U.S. Paper Money Pricing

Coin World was the first publication available to coin collectors in the United States to report timely, independent and trustworthy information on the retail market values of all U.S. coins. Coin World's monthly Coin Values section provides more than 40,000 coin values with additional values available to subscribers online. Coin World's valuing analysts develop marketplace values and spot market direction by monitoring a variety of sources such as public auctions, transactions at coin shows, retail ads, dealers' price lists, dealer-to-dealer trading and private collector transactions. Coin World's market reports give collectors an edge in understanding why prices in the various coin series are moving up or down (or not moving at all) and how changing conditions may be opportunities in disguise. Coin World also publishes retail values for Canadian, Mexican, British and Euro coins and for U.S. federally issued paper money.

Breaking News, Educational Features, Entertaining Columns

Coin World gives priority to helping collectors learn about their coins and is unmatched in its reporting of news stories affecting collectors and the coins and other numismatic collectibles awaiting discovery. Coin World's longest-running column is "Collectors' Clearinghouse," which focuses primarily on error coins. Other difficult-to-identify items are the subject of "Readers Ask." Other columns address paper money, ancient coins, coin grading and authentication. Additional columns by some of the hobby and marketplace's top authorities in their specialty fields provide insight on a wide range of topics.
