About U.S. Coins
1793
Liberty Cap half cent
The 1793 Liberty Cap
half cent, representing the smallest denomination for a United States coin, had a mintage of 35,334
pieces.
Designed
by Adam Eckfeldt, the obverse of the 1793 half cent depicts Liberty facing left.
The reverse is adorned with a wreath and berries. The edge of the coin is inscribed with TWO HUNDRED FOR A
DOLLAR and two leaves.
For the later dates of
the Liberty Cap design, 1794-97, Liberty faces
right, and a single leaf is on the edge
inscription. |
