South
Carolina is represented by several symbols known
throughout the state - the state tree (the
palmetto), the state bird (the Carolina wren), and
the state flower (the yellow jessamine).
A star is
also included in the design on the outline of the
map to indicate the state capital.
The South
Carolina state quarter was released in the summer
of 2000.
