We are proud to present what is by far our largest and most accomplished offering since the founding of Legend Rare Coin Auctions. The sale put on between Sept. 18 and Sept. 20, 2014, by the specialists in Islamic, Indian and Oriental coins featured the Dr. John Lund Collections of Norwegian and Danish Indian Coins as well as the Nicholas Rhodes Collections of Islamic and Chinese Cash Coins.
Signature Auction #1209, U.S. Coins—2014 Long Beach Expo
This U.S. coins auction took place between Sept. 4 and Sept. 6, 2014, and featured the Pannonia Collection; the Valley View Life Collection, Part II; the James E. Blake Collection; and the J.S. Morgan Collection. The Long Beach Expo and its auctions take place at the Long Beach Convention Center.
Patrick Shanley Collection Auction of Coins, Currency & Exonumia
Coins from the U.S. and around the world, as well as ancient coins, were available during this Aug. 18, 2014, auction in Nashua, N.H. There were also literature and supplies up for sale. The auction took place at the Holiday Inn Ballroom on Northeastern Boulevard.
Ft. Myers Rare Coins and Paper Money Auction
Highlights of this Aug. 23, 2014, auction included a 1915-S Panama-Pacific Exposition commemorative half dollar graded PCGS MS-67, an 1808/7 Capped Bust half dollar graded NGC MS-64, and a wide selection of both Morgan dollars and gold eagle coins.
Ft. Myers Aug. 23 Estate Auction
All sorts of interesting items were up for sale during this auction, including an Abraham Lincoln 1909 Commemoration Tile, a Sterling Golf Club Putter Pen by Tiffany & Co., and an 1884 oil on linen painting of the three-mast ship F.C. Pendleton signed and dated by artist W.P. Stubbs.
Pre-Long Beach Auction of U.S. Coins & Currency
Three sessions took place on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, 2014, in Los Angeles as well as online. The first session included colonial issues, half cents and large cents. The second featured many modern denominations from the cent to the dollar as well as silver coins, and the third session contained mostly gold-coin lots.
The Aug. 28, 2014, auction offered a wide selection of coins from around the world: from the Greek and Roman empires, to 19th and 20th century Europe. There was even an 1803 Draped Bust half cent from the U.S. in the catalog.
Pre-Long Beach Auction of Ancient and World Coins
Three sessions took place on Sept. 2, 2014, in Los Angeles and online. Coins from ancient Greece and the Roman Republic were sold alongside Byzantine lots in the first session. World gold coins were the subject of the second session, and world crowns and minors and historic Judaic documents were in the third session.

The U.S. Coins auction took place between Aug. 5 and Aug. 8, 2014, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. It featured selections from Dr. Richard Aghababian’s Early Impressions Collection, the Gilded Age Collection, the Jepson Family Collection, and the Stu Keen Portfolio, among numerous others.
Hong Kong Coin Auction 57
Taking place on Aug. 21, 2014, at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile in Hong Kong, the sale featured items from the collections of French native Johanna Austin and Swedish-born Åke Lindén. The auction included world bank notes as well as ancient and modern coins from all over the planet.
The August 2014 Chicago ANA Auction, U.S. Currency—2014 World’s Fair of Money
This auction took place Aug. 7 and Aug. 12, 2014, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. It featured obsolete bank notes from the Peter Mayer Collection and the Crusader Collection, as well as the Anderson Collection’s extremely rare and unique Large Type notes.
The August 2014 Chicago ANA Rarities Night Auction—2014 World’s Fair of Money
An 1804 dollar from the Garrett Collection led this sale, which also featured Dr. Richard Aghababian’s Early Impressions Collection of rare coins. Notable Colonial and early American coins in the auction included a 1776 Continental dollar in pewter, and an AU 1794 half dollar that is among the finest known.
World and Ancient Coins Platinum Night—2014 World’s Fair of Money
This Aug. 8, 2014, auction that took place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., featured coins of the Ultima Collection of China, an “Una and the Lion” five-pound piece from the British Isles, a number of rare Brazilian medals, and ancient coins of the Lexington Collection.
Islamic Coin Auction 26
The Aug. 6, 2014, sale that took place in London featured Islamic coins from the Åke Lindén Collection. Among the many countries of origin for the coins in that collection are China and Japan in Asia, Greece and Italy in Europe, South Africa and Zanzibar in Africa, and Honduras and Costa Rica here in North America.
The Gilded Age Collection of United States $20 Double Eagles—2014 World’s Fair of Money
The Aug. 6 auction at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., contained 122 different Liberty Head double eagles, including a Mint State example from every one of the 53 years the coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint.
The Dr. James A. Ferrendelli Collection—2014 World’s Fair of Money
The Ferrendelli Collection, named for the neurologist who brought the coins to auction, contained a complete collection of gold quarter eagle dates and die varieties from between 1796 and 1834, and the Classic Head issues from between 1834 and 1839. It was the first time such a collection had ever been offered.

Bidding for this online auction that included ancient and world coins ended on Aug. 12, 2014. Lots included ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine coins, as well as modern world coins from all over the earth. Items in the auction came from Australia, Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America.

The August 2014 Chicago ANA Auction, Session A—2014 World’s Fair of Money
The Aug. 5 auction held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., featured lots that included world paper money, ancient coins and world coins. Highlights included a consecutive pair of Palestine Currency Board 1-pound notes, and an Australian “Holey Dollar."
